Beveling in Maya


In this screen capture you can see a coffee cup with a sort of rounded top. This was done using beveling. Originally, the top of the cup was straight edges and still "sharp." I used the Maya editing tool to round of this edge, by determining which edges I wanted to affect and how many divisions I wanted in the bevel. This is what gives it a much smoother look.
